Concrete is only as good as what's underneath it, and that's exactly where most driveways and patios go wrong. Hooligan Land Improvement pours residential and commercial concrete across the Greater Cincinnati area — driveways, patios, walkways, slabs, and approaches — and we build every one of them on a properly compacted foundation with several inches of locking rock. That base prep is the difference between flatwork that stays flat and concrete that cracks, settles, and heaves after a couple of Ohio winters. Because we run our own excavation equipment, the grading, the base, and the pour all happen under one roof, finished by a crew that takes pride in clean edges and a true surface.
Ask why a driveway cracked in three years and the answer is almost always the same: someone poured concrete on dirt, or skimped on the gravel underneath it. We do it the opposite way. Before a single yard of concrete is poured, we excavate to the right depth, compact the sub-grade, and lay down several inches of locking rock that we compact again. That base spreads the load, drains water away from the slab, and gives the concrete a stable surface that doesn't shift with the freeze-thaw cycle.
It's more work up front, and it's the entire reason our flatwork outlasts the cheap pour down the street. A driveway or patio is a long-term investment in your property — we build it like one.
A clean, well-finished driveway is the first thing people see, and a properly built patio is where a backyard actually gets used. We pour residential driveways and approaches, backyard patios and outdoor living slabs, walkways and steps, and garage and shop floors — finishing each with care so the surface is true, the edges are crisp, and the slab pitches water where it belongs.
Replacing something that's already failed? We tear out the old concrete, correct the base and drainage that caused the problem in the first place, and pour you a fresh surface built to last.
Most concrete jobs involve a hand-off — one company grades, another bases, another pours — and quality gets lost in the gaps. We self-perform the whole thing. The same outfit that excavates and grades your site builds the base and finishes the concrete, so nothing falls through the cracks and there's one company standing behind the result.
Every concrete project starts with an honest, written estimate and upfront pricing. No hidden fees, no surprises — just a clear scope and concrete done right.
We come out, listen to what you want, measure, and give you an honest assessment — no pressure.
You get a clear scope, fixed pricing, and a realistic timeline before a single nail goes in.
Our crew shows up on schedule, keeps the site clean, and keeps you updated until it's done.

The base. We excavate to depth, compact the sub-grade, and lay several inches of compacted locking rock before we pour. A lot of cheaper pours go almost straight onto dirt — which is exactly why they crack and settle. The prep is invisible once it's done, but it's the whole difference.
You can typically walk on it within a day or two, but you should keep vehicles off for about a week and heavy loads off for closer to 30 days while the concrete cures to full strength. We’ll give you exact guidance for your pour.
Yes. We tear out and haul off the old slab, fix the base and drainage issues that caused it to fail, and pour a new surface built on a proper foundation.
